Jan [January?] 5 1898

Dear Mr Kirkpatrick
Will you kindly excuse
just a line or two
to say that, as I am
trying to obtain duty
in Irland [Ireland?] at the
present time, I shall
be truly thankful
if you will kindly
reply to any enquiries,
as favourably as you
possible can, which
may be addressed to
you concerning me.
I went out to Canada
all alone at the
beginning of 1896;
but as my way did
not open out there
as I had expected;
and on my being informed
whilst there, of my
wife laying at death's
door with a most
dangerous illness in
England, I therefore
was obliged to return
to England.
I have been taking
duty in England for
some time, during which
the Archbishop gave
me a [license?] to
officiate,
But as I can not
move him to give me
a permanent license,
I am therefore disengaged
& am trying
if possible to
find an opening in
Irland [Ireland?].
Your favour will
very greatly oblige
With kindest regards
I remain ever
most respectfully
& truly yours
J.A. Cooperwaite
