| Transcript | Augusta 19th April 1876 W. J. C. Allen Esq Belfast Dear Sir As trustee for the Florida Land Co. I have disposed of Ninety Thousand acres Florida lands to a party in London through their agt [agent?] J. V. Smedley No.34 St. Georges Road Kilburn London, who agree to deposit not less than One Thousand pounds Stg [Sterling?] (œ1,000) at my credit in the Ulster Bank as trustee F.C.L. Co. to guarantee the purchase until the [tills?] can be completed. As the party is an entire stranger to us I did not wish to go to the expense of completing deeds until a deposit is made binding them to that extent They have got maps and abstract of deed in London and an agt [agent?] has been out to examine the lands all of which seem to be satisfactory, and it only remains for them to make the required deposit of œ1000 when I will proceed to have the titles completed and forward same to the "Ulster Bank" to be delivered when the full amt [amount?] of purchase money is paid. In order to facilitate matters I would feel obliged if the Bank would telegraph me the day the deposit is made just say "Deposit made" and I will pay here or it can be charged to dep [deposit?] a/c [account?] the understanding is that the dep [deposit?] of œ1000 is to be made within 30 days from this date and to be a part of the purchase money or to be forefeited in case of failure to pay the balance when the titles reach you, if all correct & in proper form. I duly recd [received?] your valued favour 11 Dec last & note all its contents. Mr Davison was eager to pursue the [BK?] report which slandered him. You will observe from the N.York [New York?] papers that we have had stormy times here also in mercantile affairs and the whole world seems to be depressed more or less, with all our trials at the South I think we are not much worse than other nations and hope we shall come out "right side up" by and by. I fear I wont be able to see the Giants Causeway this year unless it be late in the season.
