And I have no hesitation in saying that twenty farmers, taken as they are found, one after another, of almost any locality, are vastly more prosperous and contented here than the same number, similarly selected, a[?] [?] Ireland. For myself, I would have no difficulty [?] [?] that should be done for Canada is a [very?] [?] [country?] to live in, delightful climate, and rich in [?] [material?] and other [productions?] And I [know of?] no one [who?] [?] [be in his?] farm here [and?] go back to a rented one in Ireland I have been told within the past few days that Craig, who married your wife's sister, is in Toronto, 3 hours by railway from here, but think there must be some mistake. The [they?] are in [Toronto?] every once in a while, and should give pleasure in calling upon him, if he thought it too much of a sacrifice to come and see us. Two of the Mebans (cousins to your wife) were in Canada some years ago, and we thought it strange that they never wrote to nor came near us. I wrote to them as soon as I heard of them, but conclude they must have gone back before that time, as I afterwards saw the letter advertised among the uncalled for list. We are all well here and trust friends in Ireland are the same. By-the-way, I saw your wife's picture when I was up visiting mother's some time ago, and must congratulate you upon the very good taste displayed in making that situation.
