Dear Sir
By direction of our mutual friend R. Campbell
Esq. of Augusta, I have purchased and shipped per ship
"Georgia" a first class american vessel, and new, James
[Gillills?] master, bound for Liverpool, fifty four bales
of upland cotton, respecting which I am instructed to
give you "timely notice" that you "may effect insurance"
"for each interest as" he shall advise. The first cost
of this parcel will be about thirty dollars per bale
exclusive of charges.
I have forwarded by same conveyance 240 bales of cotton
recd [received?] from Augusta, and included in the bill
of lading with the other parcel, which Mr Campbell
informs me to be an equal account of yourself and your
uncle [James?] Campbell. Both parcels are square bale
and they are shipped at [3/16d?] freight.
Yours truly
G.B. Cumming
