| Transcript | Rev. Alexander Kirkpatrick Craigs, Cullybecky [Cullybackey?] P.O. County Antrem [antrim?] Ireland Philadelphia April 5th 1895 Rev. Alexander Kirkpatrick. Kind sir, Pardon the liberty I am taking in addressing this letter to you, but knowing that you were my mother's pastor, I feel that there is no person more worthy than yourself to grant me the favor [favour?] I would kindly ask of you. I had written to my mother Mrs. Martha McDonald a few weeks ago telling her of the death of my husband (William Davey?) and was shocked and double sorrow stricken when I received The sad news that mother had died and was buried as far back as March 17th without me hearing of it until now. My sister-in-law (Mrs R McDonald) wrote to me about it and said that she attended my mother in her last day but she gave me very little imformation about her death. I did not fully understand her letter in regards to some money that has been left, my sister-in-law stated that after father died mother had the money taken from the bank and gave it to the mistress of the P.O. [Post Office?] to keep for her in case she might need it at some time, and it would be easier for her to get it at that place I knew there was some money there but did not know how much. Would you kindly inform me was mother conscious before she died, or did she leave a will of any kind? I would like you to advise me what to do in the matter as I think you understand just what should be done. In the meantime I will forward letter that my sister- in-law sent (as she wished it done) at once to my only brother Robert who lives in Ohio, I will write back immediately when I hear what he has to say in the matter, hoping that you will kindly let me know full particulars, I will be more than thankful to you for the same and remain ours Respt [respectfully?] Mrs William Davey #2355 N 3rd St [Street?] Philadelphia Pa.[Pennsylvania?] U.S. |
