Mr J M Searight

Dear Sir
In reply to your favor of 19 Decr [December?] I send the
Pills which hope will please we had them fresh from ___ [Miles?]
Morrison & Co and put them into the box ourselves which is the
best and lightest way we could pack them. Observe this box is
numbered underneath which you will see previous to opening and
not let them mix. I trust they will be of use.
You never mention how you are doing, but from what I have
heard your health agrees well with the place, and that you are
comfortably situated. I was very much pleased to know it and
hope you may long continue to enjoy both health and happiness.
We are all well and continue going on as usual. Business has
been very dull but we anticipate an improvement very soon. Much
better demand of late but little or no advance in prices.
Provisions very low oats 5/3 bread 9/6 wheat 10/6 cwt. Potatoes
nearly all down on last years produce but plenty of Indian Corn
on hand and much more expected daily. How is it you are not
gone to California & find gold at once? Mr Matthews Mr
McCallister join us in kind regards to you wishing you many
happy returns of the season
I am yours surely
James Armstrong
