Dear Cousin James
After a long
neglect of not writing to
you Dear James I supose [suppose?] your
father told you the reason
that I did not write it was
on account of the letter that
should have been sent agenst [against?]

To say that we never sent it
it was left on me for sending

it but this is the first
letter I ever sent to the

a good deal of ups and downs
in this Country since you

Bella M. [Magaret?] told you all about the
Plumfair [Plumbridge fair?] night. Alex is
mended but old W Reids [Reid’s] broken
leg is not mended yet Dear James

a great boy now when he killed big Ried

we are all well now I must tell you that I was not
very well this last month I was attended by the

me but death but thank god I am better once more

half a foot deep Alex was out yesdery [yesterday?] with
the gun & the ferret he got thirteen rabits [rabbits?] four

Dear James think I have told you all the news I am sending
you this Xmas card as a token of rememberance [remembrance?]
