Dear James the [there?] are a good deal of ups and downs in this Country since you left I supose [suppose?] your sister Bella M. [Magaret?] told you all about the Plumfair [Plumbridge fair?] night. Alex is mended but old W Reids [Reid’s] broken leg is not mended yet Dear James you may think Willie [William?] Knox is a great boy now when he killed big Ried [Reid?] if you had a [have?] been [Page 3] there you would give a good blow yourself the [they?] will be all for Gortin Petty Sessions on Friday we al[then?] low nothing or them but Derry Gaol thin [then?] is the [they?] are the be thinner when the [they?] will come out.
