| Transcript | Revd Alexr[Alexander?] Kirkpatrick The Rectory Crigs [Craigs?] Co Antrim Belfast Ireland Peterboro, April 16, 89. [1889?] My dear Alexr [Alexander?] You will be surprised to receive a letter from me - but finding myself in a difficulty, I will explain & ask your help - Do you remember a MS [manuscript?] you & my brother Charlie were compiling about my mothers family as I wish to add it as an appendix to the MS [manuscript?] - I am cutting from her old early letters - I wish this to be complete - I sent it to my brother Henry who is unable to help me & has been preparing it - a letter from him today - I will give you an extract from "I have been busy with the MS [Manuscript?] in every spare time I have - I have a rough draught made - & will begin & put it in order - or better shape - I am at a loss for dates in some cases - Our Mothers great Grandfather was a descendant of Lord Kilmans there is no doubt of that but there is no date as to his birth - marriage or death - He is simply Revd [Reverend?] William Browne - who married Miss Dan[leay?] there is nothing to show who she was"- I have made a [blot?] but cannot improve it - I hope with this there may be some book or way to search out this difficulty I know no body to ask & hope you may be able - I have often thought of you & your darling suffering child the pang that renchs [wrenches?] the heart of the parents has been sorely felt by me when one after another we were called to part with the death of our infant is so different from one old enough to know the pain of parting, - how calmly they pass away - when relieved from pain - how full Heaven must be of these innocent little ones "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" At the time you sorrowed for your darling - how we will for one of the dearest & best of sisters I cannot but mourn still for her her place will never be filled, we were over 69 years together - - Tell dear Alicia I had another sympathy, in the midst of my great sorrow - for her - & know how trying the death of a darling is - I hope you are both in better health - also your dear father a wonder at his great age - Give my love to him & his accept the same dear Alexr [Alexander?] from your aff [affectionate?] cousin E S Dunlop I have a bad cough & have been very shaky |
