Darling Mama
I am so wanting to see you. I would have given
anything to come on today directly after we had got out of
the Steamer, only cis is so tired we had to stop. I'm glad
we made such a quick passage. I was only ill for 4 days.
There were only 2 nice passengers on board Mr and Mrs Sarge,
they are just married Katie generally had her meals in the
Ladies cabin with Mrs Sarge and I had mine in the Smoking
Room with Mr Sarge. There is a man called at least nicknamed
the Texas on board. He had a lot of money and was always dead
drunk the whole of the voyage. He spent about 10 œ a day on
drink. He always swore most frightfully, and once he went
into the Lady's cabin and asked if he could stand them
anything to drink. I will tell you more about him when I get
home. He carried a revolver in his [p----?] I think he is a
Back-Woodsman. I will learn some of my play, but I hope the
books will soon be printed as I dont understand it. Gweenie
is in New York with Uncle Russell. We are staying at the
Bravourt House but Gweenie is staying at the Brunswick at
which I write her. [---?] Captain Watson is a very dull man
and only came down to dinner he did not speak much, but I
[-------?] all the officers for Katie who bullied me till
I did. She is so inquisitive I believe she is a great
bullie at her school and a great [loaf---?] , therefore
the consequences are she is rather round in proportion.
O dear the day is so slow and I want to see you and Papa
and Nellie and Terence so much. Please give my love
to them I must get alot of Christmas presents at Ottawa
I have only got something for Terence as yet.
