Transcript | New York Dec 18 1857 Dear Sir The bearer Mr Foster is an English gentleman of great respectability & enlarged benevolence. He is now going west as the agent of one of our societies to make arrangements for the transportation of destitute & respectable females to the agricultural district where they can get employment. He will want, of course to be authenticated among your neighbors. Therefore I take the liberty of introducing him to you, of commending his charity to your favorable regards & to ask of you the kindness to make him known among your acquaintance as one worthy of their confidence I am very Respctly [Respectfully?] Yours &c J W Edmond [Advisor?] Gen [General?] Jacob Gould |
