Transcript | New York Dec 23d 1857 My dear [Junius?], I wish to introduce to you and through you to the best men and women of Galesburg the brave Mr Vere Foster. The preceding pages will show somewhat of the purpose of Mr Foster's travel in the west at this time. He has kindly assumed, at his own expense all the hardship of a [wandering?] winter journey which but for him I should have been compelled to undertake myself. I owe him therefore double thanks and so commend him to you every way. Please serve his pu-poses [purposes?] in any way that you can and believe me your Aff. [Affectionate?] Aunt E W Farnham Mr [Junius?] B. Roberts Galesburg [?] |
