| Transcript | Philadelphia August the 1 1883 Dear Father and mother I take this opertunity [opportunity?] of writting [writing?] those few lines hopping [hoping?] to find you and the Famiely [family?] in Good health as it leaves at preasent [present?] thanks be to God for his mercies I recived [received?] your letter from John Deran witch [which?] gave us a great Deal of Satisfaction to hear you were all Brother John has wrote to William to the [bac?] coantries [countries?] for [?] [?] and come on in spring and stopped one weak [week?] with me and he went out the second of aperill [April?] for new york and I sent Johns watch here I did not like to trust with any other body I recived [received?] one from william shortly john and him was was both well and we intend to write shortly he said he woud [would?] come back her [here?] winter to see us if he was well we have als [also?] acount [account?] from Robert that he was well and is in the state of new york [?] and james is well and has got maried [married?] Nanc[y?] and Mr anderson son is well and Famely [family?] the winter hear [here?] has been verry [very?] Favourable in this countree [country?] the are pease [peace?] and pleanty [plenty?] margre ann [Margaret Ann?] car is well and also John and Alexander Dunlop is well and George Forrest is well No more at preasent [present?] but Remanes [remains?] loving son and Duaghter to death Remember me to all enquiring Friends William and Ann Forrest. |
