Transcript | Derrykeighan Glebe Ash Wednesday My dearest Papa After I left Bushmills on Monday, Andrew [Cree-y?] called (as I hear by a note this morning from Lady Boyd, also Sir John told me last night about it.) & it was wishing me to write to you to ask you if you could have Service done for him in Dunseverick church on the two Sundays after next being the 7th and 14th of March. he asked for Mr Holmes and he to remain at the Archdeaconory [Archdeaconry?] all the time, but Sir John desired me to say to you that if you think of accommodating Andrew, he thinks you had very much better come yourself and then he could have the pleasure of your company and if you do come you are to be his guest at the Hotel all the time, He also desires me to say that He would very much rather see the Sultan himself than his Grand Vizier the latter he would of course have nothing to say to, but he hopes you will consider yourself engaged to him if you can at all come. - If this arrangement is made I can return with you. - If anything puts it out of your power to do the duty or get Mr Holmes to do it, I think you had better write to the Archdeacon as soon as possible that he may have time to try & make any other arrangement he can. – #PAGE 2 It would have been much better for Andrew to have written to you himself, but I believe he was hurried on Monday, & went off yesterday morning with Maria to leave her on a visit with Mrs Scudamore. - If you can come a line to me will be quite sufficient and I will let the Archdeacon know. - When I wrote to Mama yesterday I knew nothing of this plan, Sir John told me of it first in the evening, he dined here & went home at night, we go back to-day to Bushmills. We are just about to be off to church, so good bye [goodbye?] ever in haste your very affecte [affectionate?] daughter Barbara Gage |
