Transcript | Montgomery's Hotel, 227 & 229 SECOND STREET, Chas. [Charles ?] Montgomery, Proprietor. Febuary [February?] the 5th San Francisco, Cal. [California ?], 1873 Dear mother I recieved [received?] your letter yesterday I am Glad to hear that you are well and I am also glad to hear that sarah and patrick abel and thomas is well I got no word from William or malcom [malcolm ?] lately the Last letter I got from malcom [malcolm ?] it was about eighteen months Ago I wrote him a letter at that time but I got no Answer from it I thought the [they?] might be removed but I will write him another letter soon I may let you know that I have sent for my son to come out and his Wife I sent him twenty pounds to pay his way to new york and I bought them tickets to fetch them fom [from?] new york here the tickets cost a hundred and nine dollars in coin on the 2nd class train the passage is a little higher than it was he has got three children the [they?] go free on the train as the [they?] are under five years of age all under five goes free on the train dear mother I will send you ten pounds as I am here this time I may be here to my son comes I am not sure what time he will come he was always wanting if I did not go home to come to me I will write sarah a letter in a few days write as soon as you get this write to this hotel I send my respects to you all and all my acquaintance about magherascouse I remain your loving and affectionate son James Gamble |
