Ireland. 7 Feby 96 Dear James Alex I hope you will excuse my delay in forwarding you the book on Composition, but the firm from which I got it had none in stock, so I had to wait until they got them in. I hope you will like it, and that it will suit you, as it [Page 2] is the best I could get; of course there are larger ones, but they do not contain as much useful information as this one. I am sure you have good times there with the young ladies with whom you are stopping This is also a very beautiful place and you might say there are any amount of nice young ladies too, of course I do not mind them much. I am going on a few days [Page 3] leave next month, and will probably call over to see your people if I have time You can write and let me know when you receive this as I am just enclosing it in the book. we are having very nice weather here now, a great contrast to what you are enjoying out there. Hoping you are well. I Remain Yours very sincerely J Ballantyne [Ballantine?]. Write soon Mr J. A [James Alexander?] Smyth Essex Ont [Ontario?] Transcribed by Elizabeth Prentice |
