Transcript | [Front of Envelope] Mr. James Alex Smyth South Woodslee Lock Box 4 Essex County Ontario Canada [Stamped] NEWTOWNSTEWART [Stamped] T 6 [Back of Envelope] [Stamped] PLUMBRIDGE MY 31 94 HAMILTON 6 JU 11 94 CANADA [Page 1] Castledamph May 31st. 1894 Dear Cousin I take the pleasure of writing you a few line [sic] to let you know that we are in good health at present hoping at the arrival of this will find you enjoying the same I would have wrote [sic] to you sooner but I was waiting to [sic] these [Page 2] weddings would be over Uncle James was married on the 24th William and Bella was best man & maid for him and Willie & me for the Bride it was from Charles McCullaghs we left she had none of her people there but Tommy we had a good day and night of it Old William threatened he would be at the Church and pull the dress of [off?] her he did not come he was standing over in one of his fields calling but we did not know what he [Page 3] was saying. James McKelvey and Annie Bartely got married on Tuesday it was nearly as big a day as whin [when?] she got married before as some of the boys rung [sic] the bell in the church when the [they?] were in writing their names she had four cars [horse drawn passenger vehicles?] and he had three the [they?] went to the Plum [Plumbridge?] and stoped [stopped?] in Willie Orrs to five o clock when the [they?] went home the boy [sic] all went and burned a bonfire. you want to know who these boy [sic] is [sic] speaking to none I could [Page 4] scarcely tell you the [they?] are like the bad weather the [they?] are every place the [they?] be up in Godons [Gordons?] some times you must excuse this scrrible [scribble?] for I am in a hurry it is very dirty I must close for this time I remain your lovin [loving?] Cousin Matlida Gilkison [Gilkinson?] write soon Transcribed by Tony Flanagan |
