Castledamph
Sep 2nd'' 1896

Dear Cousin
I write you
these few lines to let
you know that we are
all well We have very
bad harvest: weather
here for so far nothing
rain and wind the corn
is all ripe but very little
of it cut yet with the rain

[Page 2]

I suppose you have the
harvest all in over there
by this time your hollidays
[holidays?] should be near
at an end I hope you done well
at your examination you are
likely to know by this
time. There is [sic] two of
Robert McFarlands girls
in America now They landed
in Newyork on Saturday last
I dont know whethere [whether?]
they are going to stop there or
not

[Page 3]
This [law?] case with the
Elkins is not settled
yet it is going to the
quarter sessions We have
got a new road Surveyor
here again he is very
hard to please we have
to build all the Bridges
and Keep them in repair
we have the material
all ready unless a few
yards of gravel. You forgot
to write Latin in English
in the last letter

[Page 4]
Well I will give you a
[Piece?] of French in this one
Comment vous porters - vous
mon cher Jacques. [-?] Faites-
vous [coupar?] nes cheveux
et nous envoyez [send?] un peu
[little?] d'en, [of it?]
[------?]Pensen a moi, Il metarde
de vous voil
au revoir je suis cher Jacques
this may not be copied Votre Cousin
correct' as the paper it Guillaume?]
was written on before got torn
Your Cousin
Willie Gilkison [William Gilkinson?]

P.S. you may guess who gave me this
