Castledamph Nov 5th 1896

Dear Cousin
In answer to
your letter which I recieved
[received?] in due time I was
glad to hear from you
again and to know that
you are well we are all
well here at present I
never even thought that
you had entirely forgot to
write to me and I will

[Page 2]
be satisfied with 50%
so long as you have
so much to study. I
am sorry you did not win
the Prize but though the
other was so much longer
than yours it might not
be the best you did not
fail in much at your exam.
I expect you will watch
better next time. We had a
very bad harvest here this
year there is a lot of the
corn clean rotten

Page 3]
The Potatoes is (sic) not near
all dug yet some people
only commencing them I
suppose you have heard
by this time how the law
went it was not so bad
after all but the Elkins
should had to (sic) Pay the £2
instead of your People
Sarah says to Hell with
them if they had left Willie
Gilkison at home they would
sent them (sic) to Derry for a
month she made a fool of
herself at Omagh

[Page 4]
I suppose you had not much
fun at Halloweve [Halloween?] it was
very dull here the people are
getting very steady We were
at a grand Party on Friday
night last it was in Grange
in Mrs Dunbar's there was four
of your ones and two of us & two
of the Campbells we drove down
the evening before and did not
come back to next morning so
we had a splendid night all
sorts of amusements. I have not
got any french to send you this
time I think you will not have
much to get cut off your whiskers
I am sure she thinks on you often enough
no more at present
but remains your Cousin

Willie [Gilkison?]

[Written across top of pages]
