Castledamph
March 3rd 1897

Dear Cousin
In answer to
your letter which I received
a few days ago was glad
to hear from you once more
that is a new game you
have got over there I suppose
you had a good time sleighing
this winter we had not much
of a winter here this year
but I think we are going to

[Page 2]
have a storm of snow now
it is snowing away this couple
of days but I hope it will
soon go away it would not
be good for the sheep
now as it is time they were
going to the glen there is
no lambs around here yet
The labour is very far back
yet I think the crops will
be late this year if the
weather does not dry up soon
you talk about not being hard
on the young ladies well you
are right there but I would

[Page 3]
not like to let them fool
me too far I forgive them
for what they done but
I will not forget for a
while they were up in our
house on Tuesday night
Mary was talking about
[getting?] a letter from you
and not answering it yet
but she says she will answer
it soon There is a great
change on them since they
closed the door on us if we
went down now I think it
would not be closed

[Page 4]
John Chas [Charles?] is a splendid
player on the Violin he has
quite a lot tunes and can
Play them well he learned
very quick Willie John is
getting along very well he did
not commence the violin yet
but he can play the trump
[trumpet] very well he says he
wrote a letter to you and he
never got an answer yet
he thinks you forgot all
about him. There is lot of
people dying around here this
year Grandfather is not too well
this last week or two.

[Page 5]
I am ashamed of not
having that money paid
