Castledamph September 22nd Dear Cousin In answer to your letter which I received a few weeks ago was glad to hear from you once more especially on account of doing so well at your examination I was just thinking a few dayes [days?] before I got your letter as I had been dreaming that you were coming home for a few weeks but it was all over when I got your letter I suppose by this time you are as hard at work as ever some people thinks you are only loosing [losing?] your time at school so long but I think it is better to do a job right at once as to have to do it over again I dont think it will hurt the folks at home to keep you going for another year They are making lots of money Tom is making a good profit at the sheep he can beat a great many old hands at present You think some of us should send you our Picture I might send you mine in my next letter if I can John was at home on the Plum fair day he looks a good deal better than he did before he weent [went?] away I think wee [we?] must all go away for a while it would help to make us a little smarter but we must wait to [till?] we get done with this old humbug of a road we are working very hard at it at present we have to put the stones all up in Cubit Yards along the road it gives us a lot more work now but the horses will have less to do all winter The harvest has been very good this year the corn is nearly all in but it was a very bad crop about here.
