John McConnel [McConnell?] is giving the partners a lot of trouble about the bit of land he will not let them put up the pealing [paling?] there is [sic] two or three songs made about him a piece of one of them is He lost his leg in the last campaign But altough [although?] he may limp he will try it again. [Page 3] I suppose any person who is willing to work over there could save plenty of money. The times is not very good here at present stock is very cheap especially the sheep you could buy good lambs for six or seven shillings each in gortin fair There is very little fun here since you left I suppose you have not got a violin yet is Sarah Ann duncan staying there yet or has she went to work in another place write and let me know how [Page 4] you like the country and also the young ladies and if you have joined to court any of them yet.
