Dear Cousin
I am glad to hear
that you are well I think by your
likeness that you have got heavier
since you left home I suppose you
have a good deal of work to do
but I think it is a very nice country
and warm weather too I see by the
last letter you sent home that the
oats is [sic] all cut and saved by
this time there is very little cut
about here yet and it is raining away
every day the hay is in a very bad
state there is none of it got up yet
Sarah McKernan was married yesterday
to Bob Keys [Kees?] they had six
cars [horse drawn passenger vehicles?]

[Page 2]
There has been a great deal of
deaths about here since you left
Andrew Campbell Bradkeel died about
a couple of weeks ago and was
only lying three or four days and
a great deal of others but I suppose
you have heard about them all.
John McConnel [McConnell?] is giving
the partners a lot of trouble about
the bit of land he will not let
them put up the pealing [paling?]
there is [sic] two or three songs made
about him a piece of one of them is
He lost his leg in the last campaign
But altough [although?] he may limp
he will try it again.

[Page 3]
I suppose any person who is
willing to work over there could
save plenty of money. The times
is not very good here at present
stock is very cheap especially
the sheep you could buy good lambs
for six or seven shillings each
in gortin fair There is very
little fun here since you left
I suppose you have not got a
violin yet is Sarah Ann duncan
staying there yet or has she
went to work in another place
write and let me know how

[Page 4]
you like the country and
also the young ladies and if
you have joined to court any
of them yet. I thank you
very much for allowing me one
of your pictures
I have no more to say at present
But remains your loving cousin
