Transcript | Clarksville, Ga [Georgia?] 6th June 1871 W. J. C. Allen Esq Belfast Dear Sir I again trouble you with a few lines regarding my sister. For prudential reasons I request you give her only half the allowance permitted and be pleased to keep the other half in your hands until some future necessity may require it. I assure you I feel the obligation and thank you gratefully for the trouble or rather annoyance you have in this request. Be pleased not to send her the money by P.O. order as Uncle requested, but hand to Mrs M'Whinney [McWhinney?] just as much as will pay for whatever list of clothes she may hand you and a little cash to pay the making - not exceeding the half as above mentioned. If you will kindly aid me by complying with my request. I will try it in the hope it may better the condition of affairs &c &c. I am pleased to hear by your letter to Miss Longstreet of the health & happiness of your little family - and the blessing you possess in your dear son. May they ever continue a source of comfort to you and may you be long spared to enjoy the blessing. Respectfully yours G. O. Giltenan P.S. I enclose this in Uncle's letter to you. |
