It is a consolation at all times in hearing from any and all of my dear relatives particularly those so near and dear to me, And I must again return my sincere thanks to you for your trouble. Our mail routs [routes?] have been in confusion in consequence of having incapable post masters or at least negligent I am as well as circumstances will admit hoping that this address shall find you all enjoying pleasant health and happiness as health together with contentment is thy greatest blessing that we can enjoy in thy days of our pilgrimage you will please remember me as a dutifull [dutiful?] and affectionate son to a time honoured and kind parent to whom I shall never forget communicating too &c [etc?] I have heard nothing lately from Uncle James, I heard from cousin George a short time ago. Times is not very brisk at present in conseqence of the presidential election every thing seems to be in a confused way money matters is hard banks is closing but we have they [the?] prospects of times getting better after they [the?] president shall take his chair again the fourth of March, #PAGE 2 every four years the [they?] elect a president and a governor. Flour is worth four dollars per barrel the blight has caught the potatoes this season but the farmers thinks nothing of that it is not on the potatoes they depend the [they?] think when the [they?] have ten bushel or fifteen on the first of November that the [they?] have a lot I have nothing particular to communicate to you and I never was worse prepared to write a letter than at present (I had a very pleasant Christmas please excuse this short epistle). It was Mary Cane and Bidgret [Bridget?] O Neil that told me about his death they said he arrived first in New Orleans and he way very delicate in health after his voyage and Charles took him up to Pittsburgh thinking that he should restore his health again and he only lived a few weeks after getting up he died in the Month of August and Charles only stopped a few days after his death and no person could tell me where he went too [to?] Charles is married and has only one child &c [etc?] { Yours George Graham.
