Dear Brother

Yours recieved [received?]
in due time, would have answered
sooner but John & May
wrote to Jennys children so
I thought best to wait a little
we were sorry to hear of our sisters
continued sufferings we had hoped
{perhaps against hope} that they
would be restored at least
to partial health, but I fear
from the tone of your letter that
there is but little hope even for
that I often think about them
and pray for them, that God
would continue the full assurance
of His presence even to the end
Give them our kindest love and sympathy
in their sore afflictions
we have had a remarkable
winter here so far or rather we
have had no winter yet the weather
is mild pleasant & dry full
sown grain looks very well
and we are looking hopefully
forward to another harvest last
harvest was all we could reasonably
expect but we had not a very
great breadth sown and a good deal
against that still we gained some
what plenty to eat for our selves
and stock. 150 acres under cultivation
with a prospect of adding 50 more this
coming summer we have also been
able to increase our stock of hogs
up to twenty five with enough
of feed to bring them through
untill [until?] after harvest should I
succeed in keeping them all
they will bring me a good [penny?]
when they are fat
I may have to sell them
this spring if so I cannot help it;
but will do my utmost to keep them
and have the benifit [benefit?] of their growth
I had a slight attack of

rheumitism [rheumatism?] early in the winter
was laid up about two weeks
but have reason to be thankful
am again quite well
John laid in our stock of fuel
for the season commenced hauling
when I was laid up has got
a years fuel in the yard hauled
it 25. miles made a load every
two days staying in the woods
at night & coming home next
day it was a pretty hard way of
getting fuel but we had no money
to buy coal with and the wood
much cleaner and better
we have a new post office
established a little over a mile from us
it will be more convenient
for us to get our mail there
in future though we have had
our mail come to Ellenwood
Barton Co [County?], as it was nearest to us
yet we live in Rice Co [County?] and our
adress [address?] will now be Glen sharrald [Glensharrold?]
Rice Co [County?] Lucys health is
rather poor still we hope nothing
serious remember us kindly
to Hugh Jenny & family
we all join in kindest
love to you and Tom
your loving Brother
Andrew
