[fragment of a letter]

which derives us the pleasure
of visiting you - and the Green
Isle. But my excuse. We have
had terrible hot weather. In
ten days the death in N. [New?] York
from heat was about 1000,
then it came off cold. And I
found myself under the
doctor's care from congestion
of the liver. We have had a
great deal of rain - several
spells of extreme hot and
then cold weather. It has
been an unusual and changeable
year. I see by the papers you
have had an unusual
amount of rain in Ireland
this summer. I notice when
you wrote you mentioned
it. I have not heard from
Belfast in a long - long time.
We were glad to know you
received the Birth day [Birthday?] card
and was pleased with it.
Josie got home from the west
in June - he kept well while
there, but did not gain strength.
And the last hot spell broke
him all up - so he is not
at all well. When I last
wrote you Eunice was not at
all well. She is now much
improved. We haven't got
her picture yet, but will
try and get one, she is a
poor walker - and seldom
gets away from the house.
If she lived where you do
she would get to Antrim
about once a year - and
never if she had to walk
it.
George is located in Chicago
for good. He likes it, and
is doing well, in the
