| Transcript | 1816 Philadelphia April 18 Dear Brother I write to Let you know wee [we?] are all well hopeing [hoping?] this will find you & yours in same I think starnge [strange?] you have not answered my Letter of November last I ame [am?] fraid [afraid?] all is not well with you I [have?] [received?] Letters from hom [home?] Last summer at that time the [they?] were all well your Mother wase [was?] verry [very?] much troubled when shee [she?] heard you had took on In the armey [army?] Mary McHain wrote you had gote [got?] married to some officrs [officer's?] Daughter your Mother Requisted [Requested?] me to send the true account, but I have wrote [written?] None this year I have just Returned from a trip through the Western Country I went out in Janry [January?] & Before I returned the River wase [was?] oppen [open?] & all the vessels gone perhaps You will wonder what took me I went out along with My Employer to Establish a manufactory [manufacture?] of soap & lard & a store like well But wee [we?] could not get a place to answer yet but still expects it I am to Carry it on and have half of the Buisness [Business?] I live very comfortably hear [here?] the [they?] have Raised my wages to 10s per day & a house to live till such times are wee [we?] can get a place to answer us I keep Robert & Margaratt at School Robert is a fine Boy and begining to write Samuel is 13 Months old & has been Running this 5 weeks I have nothing worth to write But markets has run exceeding high & noe [now?] appearance of any change Wee [We?] send our Love to you & your Beloved Partner & wase [was?] sorry to hear of your troubles But that wee [we?] must Expect while hear [here?] to [what?] plasess [pleases?] him he is over all to call unto a better plase [place?] to write as soon as this comes to hand And Let us know how you & yours are Direct to C & Dalletts No 34 Market St Let us know what account you have had at home and all about it Noe [No?] more But you Samuel & Margaratt Hall Mr Samuel Hall Little brittan [Britain?] Orange County State 18 N York [New York?] [-----?] 18 APR [April?] |
