Tyrone Ireland 23/3/98 arrived Friday March 25th 1898 POSTMARKED NEWTOWNSTEWART AM 10 MR 24 98 March 23. 1898 51 Bute Street Everton Liverpool. __________________ Dear Uncle I now take the pleasure of answering your kind and welcome letter we received a yesterday (sic) we are all glad to hear of all our friends being well as we are all well at present. Dear uncle my father would have wrote himself only he is on night work and he be tired when he comes home or he would have wrote himself. he told me to let you know as we dont know much about that place where John [was?] wrote after as it is nearly three quarters of on hour walk from our house so my father said he will make enquires and see about business so he too is going up at about eleven or twelve on saturday morning and then he will be able to let you know more about it as he will be able to see if they have much custom so he will write on saturday afternoon and let you know what he has to say about it. _______ Dear uncle my father said it is very good money for him [as?] as for his washing he will get a white shirt washed and starched and ironed for three pence two shirts will do him for a week and a few white jackets and a couple of aprons and a cotton shirt will do him after a while so he wont want much and he will get his collars and fronts done for three half pence each so if he did not care for it my father said he could get him on the railway later on as they are slack yet a wile [while?] so if he is thinking of coming let him come a few weeks before hand as he will have a look round the town and see something of it as he will be [here?] a long time till he get used to the places so if any of you are coming with him let us know in time as we will know what is do for fear my father may, be on night duty as well as billy so if any of you are coming with John let us know and my father can get off a few hours earlier so dont forget and someone of us will meet him. Dear uncle my father said it is not worth while going a [at?] the begining [beginning?] of the week as they are nearly all [order?] on so he will leave it till Saturday that is the [busissest?] day in Liverpool and he can Judge for himself what to do as he will write on Saturday and let you know without fail. Dear uncle my father is at liberty on the 21st day of June this year and he has been after two jobs one at a theatre and another at a booking office so I cant say for sure which he is going to go to for one is 18/- and the other is a £1.0.0 a week so I dare say he will be letting you hear all about it when he writes on Saturday Dear uncle we had two letters from Tommy this month the first for nearly four months we were awful upset at him not writing my father was going to write to the war office when he received the letters from him he is well hearty and in good spirts. Dear uncle we have Jack and bobby out of work this last six weeks Jack is starting at the chair making on monday morning and bobby is in bed bad since monday with a severe cold it has all set in his legs and cant stand (sic) we had to fetch a doctor to him this morning so he is a lot better this afternoon.
