Dear Cousin just
a few lines to you hoping to find
you enjoying the best of health in
your part of the world and enjoyed
a hearty Christmas and New Year.
Dear Cousin I suppose you will think
it funny at me talking about xmas
now and so far past. Dear James
I wrote a few lines to you when
I first landed at our destination
but I cannot say as to whether
you received them or not I came to
the conclusion that you must have

taken ill but I hope it is not the
case. Dear Cousin I write home to
My Dear Aunt every other week to
let them know how I am keeping and
Cousin Bella always asks if I have
hear [heard?] from you but I never
can say yes the last two letters I
had from Bella she said William was very
bad and Uncle James had a sore ear
but I suppose they will be getting on
a bit better by now at least I
hope to hear they are the next letter.
Dear Cousin I suppose you are getting
quite a Canadian now I suppose
you will be taking another holiday

[Page 3]
back to good old Ireland again
I stopped three weeks there out my
last furlough I wish I could only
get there for three weeks out of
every year I would be satisfied.
Dear Cousin I like being in India
alright it is a lot better soldiering
here than at home I have joined the
army temperance association since I came
here. I am looking to when I leave
the army to have a few pounds in my
pocket if I have the pleasure to leave
it there is every chance to save
a bit of money here the [there] is [sic]
not places here like at home to go and
enjoy you self the same as at home the

money in beer. Dear Cousin I will send
your a [sic] Photo on I have had some
taken so if you have one of yourself spare
I would very much like it.
Dear Cousin I have not much to
say to you this time and if these few
lines reaches you I hope to hear from
you soon is it the write [right?] address
