PM SP 12 00 [Back of Envelope] [Stamped] NEWTOWNSTEWART AM 5 0 SE 14 00 Letter 1 [Page 1] 12/9/1900 Cavalry Depot Canterbury Kent My Dear Aunt I now take the pleasure of writing a few lines to you and my Dear Uncle and all my Cousin [cousins?] hoping you and all are in good health. Dear Aunt I suppose you are thinking I have forgotten all about you as I have not [Page 2] wrote to you before now but I had nothing strange to tell you I am very sorry I came away if I had have thought on of writing to our officer here I could have had another month’s extension but I was quite satisfied with two months I enjoyed myself well with you I think it will be another couple of year’s [sic] before we meet again I am intending to go to Egypt next [Page 3] month. Dear Aunt I have not heard from Cousin James as yet I expect Miss Smyth has gone back to Canada I hope she will have a good voyage home. Dear Aunt I have got on better here than what I expected I have been on General's [escort?] a month we have not much time too [to?] our selves (ourselves?] but it is a fine healthy job. Dear Aunt I suppose my father has not wrote to you since I [Page 4] left Dear Aunt I have nothing strange to let you know only I wont be so long next time writing home to you hoping you will excuse me this time hoping these few lines will find you and all my Cousin [sic] Aunts and Uncles in the Best of health as I remain in the best at Present I remain your Loving Nephew T.
