| Transcript | Fremont, Nebr., [Nebraska?] May., 1900. Mr. W. E. Baxter, Derryvene, Moy, Ireland. Dear Eddie: - With reference to this Bank Stock, I am perfectly willing to give mother power of attorney, or yourself if so desired. I do not like the idea of giving those brokers in Dublin absolute right over this money, as it would give them a chance if they were so inclined to appropriate it to their own use, and if so I would be held accountable. If mother gives me a receipt for this amount I will then give the brokers power of attorney. This is the advice given my [me?] by my lawyer, who has written to Peel our views on this matter. Now, I don't want you to think for a moment that I am trying to postpone this matter for I have no interest in it as far as I am concerned, but I am willing to do what is legal and right. Your affectionate brother, Adam Baxter |
