[LOWER CANADA?] recd [recieved?] 6/23 1835 [23rd June 1835?] Brockville 24 April 1835 Mr. Thomas Grieves [Greeves?] Sir Please pay to the order of Mr James Heather thirty pounds sterling Jas [James?] Heather Wm [William?] Heather Dungannon County Tyrone Ireland Montreal 12th May 1835 Dear Thomas It was only yesterday I recd [received?] the above, after writing repeatedly about it, I now beg leave to trouble you to let me have a statement, and a bill on London or Liverpool for the amt [amount?] you will have to send, I expect by this time the cost devidend [dividend?] is paid if not, can you ascertain the time it will, and have much, relatine [relating?] to Johns amt [amount?], he dieing [dying?] with out making a will, and his children all dead but one, according to the law of this country, his Widdow [Widow?] is intitled [entitled?] to the one half & his child to the other half, as I am the responsible person in this case I would wish to get it settled the childs part must be put to Intrest [Interest?] till she comes to age and Johns Widdow [Widow?] to receive her part, her present husband was here several times about it, I wish you to include what is comeing [coming?] to him in the Bill as he only lives about 50 miles from this & have write for him to come and receive it, and let me know particularly how much is is after deducting all expenses, and the childs part the expences to come of it, and to be lodged where it will bring Intrest [Interest?], I expect you have deducted each part of the expenses from each ones part, your immediate attention to this will much oblidge, if the last devidend [dividend?] is not paid, when this reaches you, when it is paid you can pay each their share and remit me mine & Johns part and Johns child, part lodge with the former sum or if you thought better of it send it all out and I will [mature?] the lodgement here, I wish to rid you of trouble as you have had enough of it allready [already?] but I did not know any person I could place the same confidence in, how can I ever repay you, command me at any time, I will soon be able to send you Newspapers that will cost nothing here nor with you we are rather in a disturb state here, the old country against the French Canadian gets here just reached this of the fall of the [Peel?] Ministry please let Rosey McDonnell know we are all well & that we have not heard from her son Patt this long time though wrote often we think he is dead tell her I will find him out if he is alive through the News papers if [herself?] or [self?] chooses to come out and intend to lead a sober & industrious life the can do better here than where the are did you receive a letter covering one for John McClellan, I will effect to hear from you soon via the usual chanel [channel?] give me any news that is worth hearing could you send me a few of the different papers & late and pay youreslf for them by way of N york [New York?] for anything comeing [coming?] by Halifax is so long please excuse all this trouble & remember me to Mrs G [Greeves?] though unaquainted, and all old friends & remain yours oblidge friend Jas [James?] Heather |
