Dear Uunkel [Uncle?] I take the pleasure of
informing you that I am well and in good heath [health?]
at present hoping that these few lines
will find you in the same. I wrote so many
letters that I have nothing importent [important?] only
to lit [let?] you know that I have not forgot you
Dear Unkel [Uncle?] I landed in this country the 17th
July after a voyage of 9 weeks sailing I had
my health very well ever since I left you only
a little sea sikness [sickness?] which was health for me
I was Bad enough for a bout [about?] 12 or 14 day on acount [account?]
of the weather being rough and the vessel being
very dirty and a bad smell but I need not
talk of this for one need not expect any thing
Els [else?] but a little trouble before that they com [come?]
here I have got all my Cloths [Clothes?] all very safe
and dry and I was very well [supplied?] for sea
stores I sold nearly 9 guines [guineas?] worth of spirits
and som [some?] little articuls [articles?], but However I was as
well as any one aboard for all nessaries [necessaries?] that I
could expect we had plenty of course Meal and salt
Beef and 1/2 Gallon of watter [water?] dayly [daily?]
Dear Unkel [Uncle?] this is not a bad Country for a
Single young man if the [they?] be Industrous [Industrious?] and
care full [careful?] they may soon get a little money
when they have all things Clothing with them
and has there [their?] health which is above all
other things but as for A family to come
here it takes a grait [great?] dail [deal?] of Cash more
than one woud [would?] think it is not only the passage
but other things for a family it takes a grait [great?]
[upholdin?] for som [some?] little time after they are
here everything is high in this country as they [their?]
weages [wages?] is I know some that has com [come?] in this
year and the [they?] have gon [gone?] through all there [their?] money
and when that is don [done?] all friends is flead [fled?] from
them a nother [another?] thing they most part would
Rue there [their?] jorny [journey?] I knowen [known?] them that have
come over with me they would Rather almost
live in poor Ireland on low meals in the Day
as here on all things that they enjoy for some
little time but a single person can do a Grait [Great?]
Dail [Deal?] better for it one thing does not do a nother [another?]
must do and man has a fairer Chance and
more better uppertunity [opportunity?] here; as for my own part
I need not rue the jorney [journey?] in one respect but
in a nother [another?] I may if I was content and compose
my thought aright I might live more happier
but I must stay my time here for a little
I must Remember old times to you as you have knew
some of my thoughts and In tencion [Intention?] I never could be so
contented in mind untill [until?] I would try my fortune and see a
little of the Country you know that I cannot be so satisfied
when I am not making somthin [something?] I hope in some little
time that I will vissit [visit?] you onst [once?] more do not you
Remember of some little discourse that passed between you
and I concerning affairs of life that is one of the worst
things that some a crosse [across?] me when I think upon old times
it [?] times makes me a little dull for you may know thay [the?]
very coas [cause?] of it but I hope I have a friend when I
have you as I know you would desire thing aright [alright?]
it has cost me som [some?] thoughts concerning you all in general
but if it was not for hope heart would brake [break?]
I must flatter myself on the best line I can untill [until?]
I here [hear?] from you I need not menthen [mention?] anything
more but will Remain your true friend
and Nephew Jas [James?] Horner
plase [please?] to favour me with a few lines from you if
possible and you will let me know the truth of things
Remember me to my Father & Mother sisters and Brothers
Unkels [Uncles?] & Aunts to Cousens [Cousins?] & friends bothe [both?]
fare [far?] and neer [near?]
Give my love to some of my well wishers in perticular [particular?] to
them you know I hope that I am not forgot as yet
I do not know when Tom Jackson and I will steal
Andrews fine stock of Greens I will have Dull
halloweive [Hallows Eve?] on that acount [account?] I had little thought I
[ever?] would be in America that time twelve month
but I will look forward an not look back as Lots wife
[but?] let me know how my [Dear?] freind? [friend?] John McCracken
is and what he is about I was so troubled that
I did not get a shake hand at my last parting so
Adue [Adieu?]
these are the four [?] Charles Horner
Remember the creator opin [open?] [?]
[Hinoson?] [?] the Wisman hapy [happy?]
