Transcript | 45 Lr. [Lower?] Mountpleasant ave. [avenue?] Dublin, Jany 24th 1871. Dear Joseph, I received your [letter?] of thursday last, and went to Messrs. Longfield, Davidson & Kellys Office on friday, but found they were from home - I again went on yesterday evening and saw Mr. Longfield - he Knew at once what I wanted, and told me that Mr. Newton (I apprehend of Coagh) is to be up with him in Dublin on friday first (27th Inst.) to settle the rentals on the Estate and to arrange what portion of the Estate will be sold, when the sale will be proceeded with forthwith. He says there can no more be sold than what will cover the debt or mortgage - I believe about #60.000 - he cannot say until after friday what portion will be sold - he thinks Killywoolaghan will not be sold, or Brookend, but he thinks Aughavey Ballymaguire &c will be put up for sale - I have arranged to call again on Saturday when he will be able to give me all the particulars - this [arrangement?] must have come all at once [torn] Davidson was in my office [torn] a few days ago, and told me [there?] had been no arrangement then - but would let me Know before any thing [anything?] would take place. - I think you may be prepared for the sale, and let my friend Mr. Chambers see this note, so that he may be preparing also. - I will write on Monday next, as it will be after post time when I get an interview with Messrs. Longfield & Davidson on Saturday evening I hope this will find Cousin #PAGE 2 [Susanna and?] family in good health - as also Mr. & Mrs. Chambers & family. - We are here in our usual good health (only colds.) Hoping everything will turn out to your wish and advantage I am Dr. [Dear?] Joseph yrs. [yours?] very truly Wm. [William?] J. Howard |
