My Dear Alex,
I feel that I must write you
again before Christmas I hope you got my last
serihle [serial?] I do not know if you heard from any of the
boys as I have not seen them for sometime Will I
have not seen since September nor Jim either George
I seen about 3 weeks ago he was well and so far
as I know his family were well, we have had
a heavy snow storm here It brought me an attack
of the Gripe. Marie had also a bad attack. Ruth
slight but we are all better now. So far we
are settled comfortably on Brooklyn heights
1346 St Marks Avenue we have 5 rooms Bath
hot & cold water & gas, the house is one of
a neat terrace red brick, new, only being
occupied once before, the Landlord prepared &
painted it inside before we went in. I don't leave
the house till 8 Oc [o'clock?] in the morning and return at 6 Oc [o'clock?]
p.m Our principle [principal?] business is Cooperage. L.M. Palmer
being the pesdt [president?] of the Brooklyn Cooperage Co. He
also deals extensively in sugar and Coal being connected
with the Sugar trust & Le[?]igh Coal Co. My
position is nothing to brag of but it is a stepping
stone to something better. We spent thanksgiving
quietly having Dr Graf as guest and done away
with a 7 1/2 lb Turkey. George told me he would write
to you but I do not know if he did. I wrote Mary
a few weeks ago. She may have another letter
before Xmas How is Harry? I hope to hear good
news of him in your next. Heavy War Clouds
are still floating around Spain does not seem
to have enough. I saw H C Kelly on Broadway
when he was in New York but I was on a
car so did not get a chance to speak to him
How is Adela & the Children? I hope Mother
is keeping well. How is business with you?
I hope good I will now close Hoping
this will find you well and with
love to all Marie & Ruth joining
me
I am your attached Bro [Brother?]
