Transcript | Birmingham Mich, [Michigan?] June 8th 1890. Friend Annie You will probably be surprised to hear from me, but surprises and disappointments are both common to this world and I presume you are used to both by this time. However that may be I will explain my object in writing and agree not to afflict you with another letter without your consent. I think I know nearly what your feelings were towards me in the past, whether they have changed or not I do not know but I do know that mine have towards you for I have learned to appreciate sense and sincerity better than I used to, and so write requesting, if you have no other gentleman friend of whom you think more highly, that we correspond hereafter.
