Transcript | LIVERPOOL AU 17 1844 [17 Aug 1844] PAID PAID AU 18 1844 [Dublin postmark?] Henry Jackson Carn Clones Ireland On board the Ship Shiffield [Sheffield?] Off Hollyhead 1 ock [o'clock?] Wednesday 14th Augt [August?] My Dear Henry We cleared out of Liverpool on yesterday morning and have had nearly a calm ever since with the exception of the last three hours during which time it has been blowing quite rough, and the rest of the party (although in every other way well) are in bed and very sea sick. you can say to Eliza Whitelaw that Newcomon is doing very well he does nothing contrary to our wishes. I am very much pleased with this ship she sails better than I expected and I think we will have a good passage. indeed I long very much to be in New York as the monotonous time we must have on board will be chiefly employed in [torn] and thinking of you all [indua?] [torn] often find myself Engaged at the [torn] latter and it only makes things [torn] I hope you have not forgotten [your?] promise of making Sophia ride out with you every day and that she is recovering her cold. also Wm [William?] McK [stained] I trust he, is in a fair [way?] of [going?] with kindest love to all friends and Eliza [Shigag?] I am Yours ever affectionately Jno [John?] Jackson P.S.
