My dear Uncle
I have been several
times on the point of
writing to you - to wish
you & your families a
very happy year. I am
grieved that you should
have such a sad beginning
of it - in the death of your
dear little grandson -
Please convey to Alexand[er?]
& Alicia my love & kind
sympathy in their bereavement
- It is well with
them when they can feel
resigned to their Heavenly
Father's will -
I trust you may have a
beautiful & happy birthday
- & that health & strenth
may be given you for many
a birthday yet -
I am thankful to say that
all the families of our
branch - are well & happy
at this time - our three
daughters are growing into
young women very fast.
two of Helen Noble's sons are
grown up & each in a Bank.
Kate's family have
been scattered - Etta
staying with Maggie Jones
in Winnipeg - Mamie
in Scotland - & Helen
at school in Toronto.
Max Dennisto[?]
has established his
law office in Peterboro' [Peterborough?]-
& I have no doubt will
build up a good business
on the old foundation -
- We have been having an
unusually mild & open
winter. the oldest inhabitant does
does not remember such
a springlike January -
A heavy snow storm is now
raging - so we shall likely
have a taste of Arctic winter
yet - people are afraid of
an ice famine - we all
depend on so much on ice
in the summer - not only
for cooling purposes - but
for keeping perishable
viands - no one can get
on without an ice box
or refrigerator in their cellar -
Charles sends kind
remembrances to you &
all your circle - with
kind love to Geraldine
- George & our little
friend Lydia
I am dear Uncle
your loving niece
Annie E Jenkins
