Transcript | 10 Cornmarket. Dublin 27/6/48. My dear Henry: - Read the enclosed to Jas. Duncan at R. Sprouls Esq. Brantford, Canada West (I repeat the address lest the envelope give way) and then seal it. I feel I cannot afford you that assistance which I should do willingly were it in my power Previous to leaving in Liverpool write from it that if I can procure any letters I may know where to direct them when you may land. You can easily get I. Johnson's address in New York for In. Steens family or James Phillip in Belfast who could furnish you with abundant information and directions. The circle of my acquaintance are not of that commercial character that relate much to America & therefore I can scarcelysee [scarcely see?] one to ask but I may be able to get introductory notes to some parties. I shall not say one word to you only this, let the past suffice, its effect teach you that an entirely opposite direction must be taken. Look to the fountain of Light & Power to enable you to deny yourself & the result will be saving temporally. Look to the Savour [Saviour?] & you will find that Godliness will be profitable to All things. What likeness of the Divine Being comes tharough [through?] the Son and through him comes light, repentance, Pardon Purity Happiness here amidst all the varied scenes of this probationary state & ultimately Glory hereafter. Beleive [Believe?] me Your Brother Bristow Johnson. |
