Transcript | 566 Lexington Avenue January 17th My dear Alexander Your last letter reached here all safe, the news contained in it was indeed good, and gave me very great pleasure I congratulate you and Alice with all my heart, and feel very thankful that the latter and the little son are getting on so well. The arrival of the baby must be a great joy to you both, I should so much like to see the little fellow It must have been a great comfort to you to have had Bessie with Alice, Bess is so good and kind, I am sorry she had an attack of her old enemy, & I dare say Dr Dysart was glad to have her under his care again as I believe she was a great favorite [favourite?] of his. It was very good of you dear Alexander to let me know so promptly of the little stranger's arrival I knew the event was expected, & was anxious to learn the result. We have had a very mild winter here so far - no snow, and only occasionally frost in consequence of which the skaters are in despair, I think perhaps it would be better for the health of the city to have snow, but I like the warm weather better, I have not yet got my share of the proceeds of the sale of the L. estate, but when I do I want you to arrange a little matter for me, This is it - just before dear Edwards death I promised to give a small sum of money to the Church fund, some of which I have paid, but there is more yet to be given, which I have not, up till now been able to give, so when I get this interest money I will pay it (the balance) all together, instead of in small instalments first, it is only #12 I want you like a good fellow to give this to the general Church of Ireland Fund, & if that is not practicable devote it to any Irish Church purpose, something for your little church - or whatever you think best, only keeping as close to my original intention as is possible I hope you will not think I am troublesome in asking your aid in the matter but you are the best person to apply to and I know are always ready to do a kindness - I have so long wanted to pay this money but somehow leading the roving life I have; could never manage it. I must write a few lines to Alice now - so will shut this off Ever dear Alex your affectionate cousin Anna S King |
