Transcript | Michigan April 24th Dear Eliza I write to you once more hoping to find you all in good health as this leaves us all at present we have had a hard time since we came hear we are to years hear this spring and we have not wanted sickness in our house to weeks in that time the first was Thomas H he was sick with the fever and ague and then we were all sick to the one time the one could not give the other a drink of water all with the fever and ague it is an awful sickness if you were sick one day and well the next you would not be able to walk on your feet we had one little girl died she was nine months old her name was Margaret B McC and we did not expect David to get better but thank God he is getting better the rheumatics bothers Archy a good deal you will be angry with us for not writing to you before now I would have answered your letter at that time but we left that place in a few days after I got the money your father sent us but W. [William?] Kidd said I might not write he would write the next day after we left which I expect he did William and Mary was very kind to us Archy was going to write a good many times there was always something to prevent hi[Bm but do not be angry at him for he is not at home now and I would be glad we never had left home it is a long time to not hear from our parents but we hope the are all well and we return you a sincere thank for the money you sent If you will answer this let me hear how Margret is getting along and ask her to write a letter to us we would like to get a letter from her Joseph dont forget his grand ma and would like he had stayed with her let us hear how James and family is and how my folks and how the are getting along and uncle Georges folks is I would write to my folk but I dont like to let them no we are in such an unhealthy Country but you might tell them we are all well I respect Thomas and Jane is married before now write if you will and let us know how you are do not be angry No more at present but remains you're Brother and sister Archibald and Mary McClure |
