Transcript | Letter 1 Side 1 Phenix R.I. [Rhode Island?] May 16, 1916 Dear John:- Mother has been scolding us for not writing to you more than we do. Mary has been busy making clothes for the babies and will send them before long. Times over here have been the busiest ever known and we have had more than our share to do. There dont [doesn't?] seem to be any let up to the work. The European War has hustled everybody. It must be bad over there where you have to work and fight. I think this is the Side 2 decisive year. The Allies will only have to hold out a little longer before the germans will be loosing [losing?] ground. About a year from now should see the end of the war. We are all well here. How are all you people? How is Aunt Bridget? How are the babies. Mary and Mother are very much interested in those children. Have you finished your planting? We are not half through over here. It has been a late spring. There was snow the last Sunday in April. Spring comes a month earlier over there than here. Side 3 I am sorry I have no more time just now but I shall write you soon again. I am going to write Bella a letter soon. We hope you get the babies things before long. We send our love to all. Yours truly Tom. Transcribed by NualaMacSherry, Checked by CMcIvor. |
