Transcript | township of wolford Eastons Corners 1876 February 27 Dear aunt Elisabeth I now sit down to write to you I have often thought I would write but I had not the address my mother and I live together since father died he is dead seven years this last January we are very well at present Mother was sick near all winter but she is better now thank God we often thought you would write to us and let us know how you are we live in the same place where we lived when Pa died we have a nice place in a nice part of the country half a mile from a village. Dear aunt it is a shame I never wrote before but it was neglected from time to time I got the address from Mr McIntyre and I thought I would write I hope you and uncle enjoy good health Mr McIntyres are all well they lost one of their girls this winter aunt Peggy uncle Davids wife is dead she died about two years ago uncle James is well times are very dull this winter on account of having very little sleighing there was a little snow before Christmas and it all went away and we had none until about a week ago we had a heavy fall other winters we would have snow from december until April. Dear aunt I am 23 years of age i got married last April to a full bred Irishman from the county Wexford 25 years of age he is 6 foot and he weighs 190 lbs I am tall like Pa was and I weigh about 150 and I have got a young son and I call it Charles James the Charles is after my little brother that died my husbands name is Thomas Price. Dear Aunt I wish that you and uncle would come out to this country and live I think you would like it we would like to have yous come let me know how and what yous are doing if you keep Grocery yet and how times are in Ireland and what kind of weather there is in Ireland people in this country dont think anything about going to Ireland they go and come in so short a time Dear aunt and uncle if you get this write as soon as possible and let me know how yous are and what you think about coming out and when I write again I will send you our pictures Dear aunt we are preparing to make sugar we tap the trees and the sap runs out and you boil it down to sugar I wish you was here to get some I will make a cake and keep it till you come out and save some for uncle you must excuse this letter and answer is it write soon and let me know how you are I will write more the next time we all send our love to you and uncle hope you are well no more at present I remain your affectionate niece Mary McMillan Price |
