Transcript | 19,Coleman Street London,July 16.1858 E.C. Dear Sir, Referring to our Mr.Bischoffs' Letter to you of the [5?] ulto: in reference to Mr Motz's claim on the Estate of the late Lord Caledon. We beg to inform you that we have received from Mr. Motz several letters from Lord Caledon to himself some of which you have already seen but all of which we take the liberty to enclose herewith and from a careful perusal of these letters we think it must necessarily be informed that unless his Lordships Bankers Book discloses the remittance of œ500 adverted to in his letters of the 27 April 1844 and Feby 2 1846 since that date his dept to Mr Motz, thus admitted remained uncancelled. For it is abundantly clear that Motz made advances to "Flora" at his Lordships request had an open account current with him,and that Lord Caledon by remarking both in 1844 & 1846 that he would remit œ500 estimated his Debt at about the sum he now claims as due to him.We also beg to enclose Motz's letter to ourselves and we think when these have been perused you will as Executor have no difficulty in arriving at the fact that an unsettled open account existed between Lord Caledon & Motz and we are satisfied you will appreciate the circumstances which have left the Claim in its present embarrassed condition and deal with it on a fair and equitable basis, and Mr Motz will doubtless support it by Affidavids We are, Dear Sir Yours faithfully Bischoff, Coxe & Bumpas W.J.Alexander Esq. |
