My dear Joseph
Your letter dated Sept 15 is
duly to hand. And am glad you have at least
a better salary than before. Enclosed you have
a letter written to my Brother which as soon as
you have perused yu will please send and
put it in the Post Office in time for the mail from
N. York [New york?]. My letters of late have been urging
my whim home and this is my answer
I wish to have your opinion as fully and as
freely as possible and I hope yu will not refuse
me request You know I labor under disadvantages
which I find are not easily overcome wish [with?]
strangers. I have not done anything since my
[Whim?] nor do I know when G & [A/C?] will [whom?]
positively. The news of H.G. death came by
the return of his comrade who was not able
to proceed. The a/c from Ain was transmitted
by [Jno?] Mercer of whose death there was a
report in [P?] Down at latest dates. John
McElroy is now in NY [New York?] and James [Glinston?]
the preachers son in New Albany and with
his brother
