Dear Joseph
Your favour of 30th is to hand as
Anne Jane and Alisha here dreaming wonderful
things about you Some of us were
inclined to think that all was not right you were
so long writing but to find that my
prediction was the right one that all
your idle moments were occupied musing
and that you had no time to think of
distant friends as all your thoughts were
engaged at home Well we all heartily
congratulate you on all the mercies and
providential dealings of your Gracious Heavenly
Father and surely a living Mother and a
living son are not among the last of
those blessings for which we have to thank
him I hope the Boy will be spared to you
and become a great + good man and be
the means of joy and gladness to you
and your beloved [Partner?]
I have placed the proceeds of yr [your?] order
to your credit with thanks
We cannot account you further about the
sheetings knowing you will do your best
but we think it strange that they will
not [all?] to advantage as they would
cost 2[?] pyd [per yard?] more today than when
they were bought and the [amount?] is
still good for them here I am
sending away 160 ps of them tomorrow
at a good figure do all you can
to push them off and send me all the
money you can and as soon as posible [possible?]
think of my position with 1100: yes
cloth and œ750 in Havana and
the Banks not willing to take a
bill of any kind even at 3%
at present I am not inclined to
sell but for cash and cash buyers
are acting very cautiously
that money will be acceptable [you?]
will want the [Accts?] separate [?]
and myself surely it woul be [?]
expense to remit alltogether [?]
the best you can the loss of [?]
would be [too?] serious- we are all
well - I shall receive good news
from Melbourne My Brothers are [?]
[------?] there - the clouds are [Black?]
over W.M. and the prospects are [?]
my for Matrimony he is under a
large engagement to one of the [?]
not perform before the end of the
year
Yrs [Yours?] fthy [faithfully?]
Robt [Robert?] Moore
