Portadown
Sept. 15. 1847

My dear Brother
Mr. [J.?] Seawright who takes
our usual "note of [renewal?]" is about
to proceed to your country in company
with a relative Mr Wm. [William?] Montgomery.
W. [William?] Seawright [Searight?] is a member of our
Society and I desire to commence
him to your [syan?] as a brother altogether
deserving of his spirit
conduct whole character has
been such as to entitle him to our
esteem [as?] [has?] been Efficiently
engaged in our Sale Schools. Mr
Montgomery is for to one of or most
Excellent leaders and steady
Attached friends. I [seput?] to say that
although a [chito?] of many prayers
long offered up by a Sainted
Mother who is now amongst the
Saints in Light, [m.?] is not in our
[Loutz?]. I trust that under your
care he may be led in to give his
heart to the Lord.
I am
Affectly [Affectionately?] Your
J. Nash

The writer of this note evidently
intended it for any Methodist Preacher
having charge of a circuit or station,
where in the order of Providence Mr
Searight [Seawright?] might be desirous of being
recognised as a member of the M. E.
Church.
New York Oct. 8, 1847. Edmund S. James.
