Transcript | CONSULAR SERVICE, U.S.A. Londonderry Nov 4th, 1908 To :- Andrew W. Smyth, Esq. M.P. Ardcame Donemana re Mr. Morgan Gurley New Orleans Dear Dr. Smyth, I sent a certified copy of your "Deed of Revocation" of Mr. Gurley's power of Attorney out to that gentleman in New Orleans per yesterday's mail accompanied by a formal letter in which I have told him that as from the date of my cablegram to him (i.e. the cablegram which you yourself sent in my name) his authority to represent you in any way was completely at an end. I made no mention whatever of the intended visit of Mrs. & Miss Smyth. Even in the absence of your letter warning me against this, I should not have mentioned it, as doing so would be so obviously contrary to sound diplomacy. I have the original "Revocation" here still fully consulated [consulted?] & Mrs. Smyth can take it with her to New Orleans, & make whatever use she thinks judicious of it there, after consulting with her friend on the spot & spying out the ground. Mrs. Smyth will please call here for the original, & if I can be of any service to her & Miss Smyth in connection with their voyage I shall be very glad. Very Truly Yours, Philip O'Hagan. American Consul L'derry [Londonderry?]. |
