Transcript | CONSULAR SERVICE, U.S.A. Londonderry Dec 9th 1908 Andrew W Smyth Esq M.D. Ardcame Donemana re. [Mr Pouley?] New Orleans. Dear Doctor Smyth I beg to acknowledge yours of [yesterday?] & note all you say. I am glad to hear that Mrs & Miss Smyth had such a good passage & arrived at their ultimate destination safe & sound. I note all you say about [Mr Pouley?] & his little scheme of company promotion. Evidently a very ingenious device to sell & transfer your property from himself as your attorney to himself in his character of "Company [promoter?]"-A sort of-financial "Doctor Jekyll & Mr Hyde" business. It would have been very nice for him if he could have worked the dodge successfully & [shall?] have left you here at [home?] under the impression that he was your best friend. Evidently Mrs Smyth has all her work cut out for her, if she wants to be successful in upsetting Mr [Pouley's?] applecart. But with her own ability & the assistance of her friend's out there & the Deed of [Revoealum?] of [Pouley's?] Power which she had with her she should be able to manage it. Any help I can give will be entirely & enthusiastically at your disposal-I shall be glad to see you when you call. Very Purposefully Yours Philip O'Hagan American Consul Derry. |
