Transcript | Staunton, Illinois, May 11 1878 Dear Brother it seems a long time to me now since I heard from you I wrote to you when I was in New york But I have not heard from any of you since then I like to hear from you all often if I possibly could I don't think it would trouble you much to answer my letter you need not be afraid I hope and trust in God that he will never see me want for any thing I must say God has been very good to me after all I sold out that time and went to New york I thought to get in to something else but that the times was so very dull at that time I could not yet get in to anything I stopped with my Brother inlaw Six weeks and worked their [there?] one month so we found out we could not get along their [there?] so we packed up and came right back to buy another Spot and Build me a house for my family it left me a little in Debt But thanks be to God I'm over it now and doing Right well again I have got a fine cow and soon will have another of my own Raising So after all I have been very lucky I had a very strong notion to take a trip home at that time if I could have done any way well I have a fine house now I pay no rent So it dont [don't] cost me much to live, we are all quite well at present hoping this letter will find you all enjoying good health I have got 3 children all Girls Elizabeth Sarah and Mary Ellen Park the oldest is going to school every day give my love to all my Brothers and Sisters and the love of all my family when you write to me let me know all particulars about my folks and also about home I seen Henry Clements & Bessie in Brooklyn New york and a great many other Neighbours I Seen May Anne McManus and all the O'Neills folks from Glenoe I was in Bessie Clements house in Brooklyn Henry looks a little old he says I stand it very well I'm getting Bald headed he says James has no hair on his head all he told me you were doing right well I was very glad to hear it I think any person that trys to do for themselves in a right way God will help the only way I got out my trouble was buy [by?] hard work Let me know when you heard from Robert give our love to your wife & Children and accept the same yourself please write as soon as you receive this as I'm axious [anxious?] to hear from you all let me Know how James farm is and how my Sister Sarah also Now I will conclude & remain your loving Brother & [Sistes----] PS. address John & [Bridel?] Park your letters ----------------- John Park Staunton [Ma------] P.0.
