Transcript | July 7th [1860?] Dearest the Persia arrived in N.Y. [New York?] Thursday she is the first vessel that reported having seen you, on the 26th it was the second day after she left Cork, hope you were not too late on Friday getting into L.Pool [Liverpool?] to get off that evening, but I fear you were, & that would derange your plans a little, got a paper dated 18th from Tilly on Thursday evening after I had posted mine, she is still saying she will not let you back, but if she came with you it will be better still. I expect some news by the Arabia next week. Hope it will be good, Mrs Jas. Lynch still living but without her reason & if she ever recover her health it is feared her reason is clean gone which is worse than death, as it is a living one, all your friends are well as far as I know except your foster sons whose [?] are deranged L. C. says by Lucy giving him [?] contrary to his order Alice G. got home on the 4th in good health. Mrs Glenns party came off very well except for the dearth of beaux there being not more than 1 or 4 belles. I was not there, 'till after, I had a letter from John today he said he was going to the country this week & gave no other news. I will be watching anxiously for news next week, hope it will be each as I would like to get, are you getting home sick yet? kiss Robert for me give my love to all & believe me Your loving Husband. |
